I found this old aerial photograph of Disneyland form 1957. Things have changed in 54 years! Just to name a few... No Space Mountain...No Monorail...No Submarines...No Matterhorn... No "Its a Small World" (Ok, maybe 1957 wasn't so bad!) No ToonTown... No Big Thunder Mountain... No Critter Country... No Haunted Mansion... No New Orleans Square or Pirates... No Indiana Jones... Just to mention a few...
But, look what is there... a parking lot right up to the main gate... and orange groves in what is now ToonTown. There are very few trees and there is a lake in Tomorrowland!
Today Disneyland is much larger. Notice in the Google Earth picture below that it is almost round compared to the triangle shape above. The origninal parking lot is now the California Adventure Park, the Grand California Hotel and DownTown Disney. And it is even growing larger... California Adventure is expanding to fill in the last little bit of parking lot (bottom right) with an area themed after the movie Cars.
Some things haven't changed in all those years. Main Street USA, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, the Jungle Ride and the Mark Twain.... oh, and of course, the Magic....

So, what was there to do at Disneyland in 1957? I can't believe how much it has changed!! This year's trip to Disneyland is going to be amazing because we get to introduce Miller Light to the magic of Disney! I can't wait!!
